For Your Consideration

"For Your Consideration"
I hate waking up to an alarm, cable tv, and having no inspiration
I hate looking for yet another pointless job and wasting my brain on the weekend
I hate crowded public places
It takes everything I have not to start a resistence
While I’m being persistent
In an instant
I could do away with everything that wastes my time and existence
I’m losing my mind
Killing time
As I get older, losing momentum, and dulling my senses
I hate being broke, bumming smokes, making jokes
Getting by under false pretenses
I hate that most of the things in my life I enjoy come with a list of consequences
And I repeat offenses
I’m so relentless
I could spend every day just doing things that waste my time and existence
If there was something I know I could say that would get through to you and your administration
I think you’re a source of distraction and confusion to an already downtrodden population
That partakes in a game you create around money while you hide behind public relations
My message to the nation
Take a vacation
And spend the rest of your days doing anything that’s got nothing to do with business

"Like a Well-Oiled Machine"
You give me your lean love
Pink champagne on ice
Put them all together and you’ve got something that’s very nice
And that’s you and me
Free as a bird
Home on the range
Like a well-oiled machine
Truckin’
Train kept a-rollin’
Break on through to the other side
The boys are back in town
Baby, Wanna go for a ride?
And that’s me and you
Free as a bird
Home on the range
Like a well-oiled machine
Truckin’
Just a little patience
Take a look ahead
I can’t quit you baby
I got no expectations
Free as a bird
Home on the range
Like a well-oiled machine
Truckin’

Parachute

"Parachute"
Give me a clue
I’m so confused
Feel like I’m falling
What do I do?
Try something new
Tried being braver
Jump to my doom
I need a favor
When I am ready
When I am through
Slowly and steady
Gonna make a move
Till then I wait
And I retire
Surrender fate
And all desire
I’ll contemplate
All that I love
Pulling me closer
Deep blue above
And I want
What you want
Something to carry me
Above everything
That’s pulling me down
And you want
What I want
Parachute
Parachute
Falling’s not the same without you
I’ll cherish you
Parachute
But you can’t blame me when I doubt you

"Gary Bluesy"
Don’t mean to have you hear me whine
Not trying to feed you any lines
You’re driving me out of my mind
I think we’re doing just fine
Don’t mean to have you hear me whine
I think we’re doing just fine
Not trying to come off so divine
You are yours and I am mine
You’d like to hang me from a vine
But I am yours and you are mine
Not trying to come off so divine
But I am yours and you are mine
We ought to take it as a sign
Maybe a little whine and dine
Meet you at quarter to nine
Because you and I should intertwine
We ought to take it as a sign
I think we’re doing just fine
Well, we got to her place at about a quarter after nine
Two bottles of wine to help us both unwind
Oh yeah, feelin’ fine
Well, I smiled really wide
My teeth, they started to shine
She took one good look, don’t you know, the poor girl went blind
So yeah, Gary left another poor girl behind

Resister

"Resister"
Constant interruption kills my sunny disposition every time
Complacency’s not a disease but probably it ought to be a crime
Pave the way but don’t pay to play
Break a leg but don’t break a leg
Do what you may, don’t do what they say
If you don’t want to get caught, you’d better behave
But I think you’re going to do what you do anyway
Hunger pangs ache my belly
Just fill me with cheese and turn on the telly, all right
Don’t bother me, just let me be
Reality is on TV tonight
Pave the way but don’t pay to play
Break a leg but don’t break a leg
Do what you may, don’t do what they say
If you don’t want to get caught, you’d better behave
But I think you’re going to do what you do anyway

"I Killed My Love With Rock and Roll"
Bow to your master
The god of rock and roll
Because we're headed for disaster
And it's time to save your soul
And you'll be shakin' in your shoes when it's time to pay the dues
Because you've got nothing to lose when you've got nothing to choose from
Now I've got me a confession
That's bound to take a toll
A victim of harmonic possession
I killed my love with rock and roll
And she was shakin' in her shoes when it came time to pay the dues
Because we've got nothing to lose when we've got nothing to choose from
Well imagine her surprise when I hit her right between the eyes with my guitar
She was just twiddling her thumbs when I got her with some drums and piano wire
She got a bass to the face and I didn't leave a trace behind
I killed my love with rock and roll
Well rock until you drop
Because I'm never gonna stop
And crank the volume til your eardrums pop
Sell your soul to rock and roll, oh baby, shoo-be-doo-wop
And we'll put on our dancing shoes when it comes time to pay the dues
Because we'll have nothing to lose and we'll have nothing to choose from
And we'll be drinking lots of booze when they finally cut us loose, yeah
Because you never let the blues come and tie you up a noose, no
I killed my love with rock and roll

Hiding From the Sun

"Hiding From the Sun"
Look what you started
We’ve done it now
Don’t try to find me
I’m stepping out
From the beginning
Right up till now
Been hiding from the sun
You don’t need me hanging around
Don’t need to see anyone
Till I get it all figured out
I’ll never go there
It’d burn me out
This crazy world
Keeps spinning around
I try and hide out
But it hunts me down
Been hiding from the sun
You don’t need me hanging around
Don’t need to see anyone
Till I get it all figured out

A Taxlady Needs a Window
04:03
|
|||
"A Taxlady Needs a Window"
Day in and day out, from seven to three
She's crunching the numbers and sipping her tea
And she piles her files alphabetically
She don't ever cause trouble, she always agrees
And she'll ask "How's the weather outside? Is it freezing?
I don't have a window to see, but I'm far too busy."
And we all want something for free
There's a man no one knows and he sleeps in the street
He can't even afford to put shoes on his feet
He knows it'll be a long time till he ever feels complete
He wanders all day looking for something to eat
Wishes people gave love like the sun gave us heat
And he wonders just exactly where his god might be
And we all want something for free
Awake in my room until a quarter past three
And I'm drinking alone, just the bottle and me
And a photograph of everything I used to be
You know every time it's exactly the same
When you're up on a stage seeking fortune and fame
And you hope for a chance at a dream that never came
And we all want something for free

Exister
03:24
|

"Exister"
I believe there’s meaning in what you say
I believe there’s meaning in what you don’t say
Try not to spit in the face of every broken man you see
And don’t mistake a happy face for a personality
Don’t confuse the down and out for going against the grain
When you try to find some meaning, most of all, try not to go insane
Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey!
Do it if it makes you feel okay
Whatever helps you make it through the day
But don’t believe everything a faithful man chooses to say
It’s mystery in things that makes the toughest man afraid
Equality lies inside the face that there is no easy way
Do everything you can not to take yourself so seriously
You’re not the most important person in the fucking human race
Treat everyone you talk to with civility and grace
Do everything you do in the name of passion and good taste
And you might be okay
Everything you know, it could be faked
Just like they say that life is but a dream
Though you may seem awake, you know it’s not for very long
It’s easy to be right when you know you can’t help being wrong
I promised myself I wouldn’t write another existential song
Do everything you can not to take yourself so seriously
You’re not the most important person in the fucking human race
Treat everyone you talk to with civility and grace
Do everything you do in the name of passion and good taste
And you might be okay

"Surf Webs"
Blow me kisses, blow me to pieces
There’s something about the way that she teases
I just need something to believe in
Cover up your eyes
It’s a surprise
Goodbye forever, hello again
You could be my nemesis or my friend
Feeling like I’m changing with the seasons
Need to break free, but don’t need a reason
I just need someone to believe in
Cover up your eyes
It’s a surprise
Goodbye forever, hello again
You could be my nemesis or my friend
I think we ought to do a little driving
Not really sure when we’ll be arriving
I just need someone to survive me
Cover up your eyes
It’s a surprise
Goodbye forever, hello again
You could be my nemesis or my friend

Big Time Before Bedtime
04:03
|
|||
"Big Time Before Bedtime"
The devil's coming for you
You know you'd better start running
A storm is heading our way
We'd better find a place to hide
We've got some questions for you
You know you'd better start talking
You'd better spread the good news
We only live until we die
Show me some real estate way up in the sky
Find a place for me to park at the end of the ride
Four walls, a roof to keep me warm and dry
And I'll wait for the sinners on the other side
I know why the bird sings
I know why the people riot
They only sell you their shit
Because they know you're gonna buy it

Up on the Hilltop

|

"Up On the Hilltop"
Down by the river bank
Fleeting, streaming
High above the aeroplane
Freeing feeling
Wind, air, and radio waves
Breathing, beaming
Up on the hilltop again
And I'm seeing
Up on the hilltop where synapses fire in my mind all the time
Then it crashes together to make a design and a boom, boom, boom
Down for the count in my bed
Sleeping, dreaming
Tones moving throughout my head
Fleeting, streaming
Rhythm and flow in your breath
Breathing, repeating
Up on the hilltop till death
Believing, dreaming
